Users of pulver.Communicator can configure many of the application's features to reflect their personal preferences using the Options dialog, which is invoked via the Tools|Options command. The Communicator settings that can be modified are organized across six tab screens on the dialog: Buddylist view, Codecs, Connections, General, Buddylist Notifications, and SIP Settings.
Sorting Buddies
|
Launch automatically at Windows startup |
When toggled, pulver.Communicator will launch at system startup. |
|
When this checkbox is ticked pulver.Communicator will not maintain log files for Instant Messaging communication. |
|
By default, a double-click on the icon alongside a Buddy List contact will result in an IM window. Ticking this checkbox changes the behavior of the double-click action to initiate a phone call with the contact -- provided that contact is SIP-enabled -- instead of an Instant Message. |
|
Ticking this checkbox will disable the RSS functionality of pulver.Communicator, and will also render the RSS Tab invisible. |
|
By default, clicking the RSS Tab will cause the pulver.Communicator window to expand to fill the screen. Unticking this checkbox suspends this functionality. |
Buddylist Notifications
Enable sound notifications |
Ticked by default, this is a master control for sound notifications. When enabled, the sub-controls for notification are activated. Refer to Adjusting Notifications: Configuring Sound Notifications for more detail. |
Buddylist view
Turn-on two-icon mode |
When enabled, the
pulver.Communicator Buddy List will display two icons for each
buddy. The left-most icon indicates the specific IM service
for the Buddy, while the right-most icon indicates whether that
buddy can be reached with audio. |
Always Display new IM Messages |
By default, when someone initiates an IM session with you pulver.Communicator displays the message onscreen. Unticking the checkbox disables this feature. |
Import BL on Login |
When this checkbox is ticked pulver.Communicator will import your Buddy List each time you login. By default, this feature is enabled. |
Show status text |
When enabled, this toggle
setting provides you with a text indicator that displays the Presence of
each contact on your Buddy List. This indicator is displayed in
parenthesis to the right of each contact's name on the Buddy List. Note: Status text does not display for contacts who are online and available. |
Set "Away" Status... |
By default, Pulver.Communicator will set a user's status as Away after 10 minutes of inactivity. You can disable this feature by unticking the checkbox, or revise the feature's timing as appropriate. |
By default, pulver.Communicator is set to automatically reconnect in the event that it loses its connection to the server. To disable this feature, untick the Auto Reconnect checkbox in the Connections tab of the Options dialog.
At installation pulver.Communicator is configured to launch automatically at Windows startup. If you prefer to manually start the application, disable this feature by unticking the Launch automatically on Windows startup checkbox in the General tab of the Options dialog.
Pulver.Communicator is currently available in two languages -- English (default) and Spanish.
| Note: Any changes made to Language will only take affect once you have exited and restarted pulver.Communicator. |
Users of pulver.Communicator can set the order in which codecs are used for receiving and processing both audio and video data.
Invoke the Tools|Options command. The Options dialog will display.
To move a codec, click once on it and then click the Move Up or Move Down button associated with it, as appropriate.
To unlock pulver.Communicator for use with a SIP service other than Free World Dialup you must first obtain an Activation Key for the application. To acquire a key, you must provide the following information via the pulver.Communicator Activation Key Generator:
Free World Dialup Account Identifier (number or name)
A valid email address (to which the Activation Key will be sent)
An IM network identifier (to be used for authentication)
The hard disk serial number for the target computer (for more information, click here)
| Note: Activation Keys are uniquely configured for their designated pulver.Communicator installation, and thus these codes cannot be used to unlock instances of the pulver.Communicator application that reside on other systems. |
Once the Activation Key is acquired invoke the Tools|Options command. The Options dialog will display.
Activate the SIP Settings tab by clicking on it one time.
Enter the Activation Key into its designated field and click Apply Activation Key to unlock the SIP settings fields.
Change the SIP settings as appropriate to the selected SIP service provider.
