Menus Explained

The pulver.Communicator menu commands are detailed below, menu-by-menu left-to-right.

File Menu
     Communicator Help main menu «

New Account... Command used to register a new pulver.Communicator user account.
Login... Single-click Login command, functional only once an FWD subscriber ticks the Remember my User Name and Password checkbox in the Login dialog.  (Refer to Logging In: Using Hot Login/Logout Commands)
Logout Click to logout of pulver.Communicator.
Account Settings Displays the Account Setting dialog, from which user information can be set.  Settings parameters include:  Personal Information, Contact Information:  Home, Contact Information: Work, Image, IM Network Proxies, Share Settings.
Presence Status Graduated command that allows users to easily indicate their preferred status, as displayed to buddies across all IM proxies.  Choices include:  Online, Invisible, Away, Idle, Busy, Be Right Back, On the Phone, Out to Lunch.
Exit Closes the pulver.Communicator application.
   

View Menu
     Communicator Help main menu «

Hide Offline Buddies Toggle command that prevents Buddies who are not currently on-line from displaying in the main pulver.Communicator window.  Once invoked the command text changes to read Show Offline Buddies, and the next toggle works to that effect.
Hide Groups Toggle command that prevents any configured Groups from displaying in the main pulver.Communicator window.  Once invoked the command text changes to read Show Groups, and the next toggle works to that effect.
Buddy Properties Opens the Buddy Properties dialog.  Refer to Managing Your Buddy List: Viewing Buddy Properties.
Buddy Alerts Opens the Edit Buddy Alerts for <Contact Name> dialog, which is used to configure unique alert settings for the contact selected on the Buddy List.  Buddy Alerts are set for specific events (i.e., Sign on, Sign off, Away, Return from Away), and can be configured for a variety of differing behaviors which can then be intricately personalized (refer to Managing Your Buddy List: Adjusting Buddy Alerts).
Message History Displays the Message History dialog for the Buddy highlighted in the main Communicator window.  Refer to Instant Messaging: Viewing/Saving Message Histories.
Recent Calls Offers a reverse-chronological list of calls made by the users from which users can initiate callbacks.
   

Tools Menu
     Communicator Help main menu «

Call When invoked, this command opens a phone call with the Buddy whose handle is highlighted in the main Communicator window.
Send Instant Message When invoked, this command allows users to open an IM session for the Buddy whose handle is highlighted in the main Communicator window.
Open Conference Call When invoked, this command allows users to open a Conference with the Buddy whose handle is highlighted in the main Communicator window.  Note that this command is only available for FWD buddies.
Open Group IM Session When invoked, this command allows users to open a Chat with the Buddy whose handle is highlighted in the main Communicator window.  Note that this command is only available for FWD buddies.
Find Buddies... Invoking this command presents the Search for FWD users dialog, which offers a number of search parameter fields that users can employ to search through the Free World Dialup user database.  Please note that this feature can be used to locate FWD buddies only, and thus it cannot aid in locating contacts using other SIP or IM services.
Add Buddy... Displays Add Buddy dialog, from which users can add FWD contacts, as well as individual contacts from Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, AOL AIM, and ICQ.  (Refer to Adding Buddies: Adding a Contact to the Buddy List)
Add Group... Displays Add Group dialog, from which users can add new Group areas to the Buddy List.  Once added, new Groups can be easily populated with new contacts (at addition, refer to Refer to Adding Buddies: Adding a Contact to the Buddy List) and old (via drag-n-drop from their current location, refer to Moving Buddies between Groups).
Get Shared Contacts Subscribers invoke this command to import contacts from FWD Buddies who have opted to share their Buddy List (though individuals on these Buddy Lists can opt not to share their information).  Refer to Adding Buddies: Importing Shared Buddy Lists.
Manage Blocked Contacts Displays the Block List dialog, from which users can enact precise controls over Buddy contact.  Refer to Managing Your Buddy List:  Blocking/Unblocking Buddy List Contacts.
Show Message of the Day Invoking this command reveals the pulver.Communicator Message of the Day in a separate window.
Audio Tuning Wizard... Opens a Wizard that provides tools for verifying that attached cameras, speakers and microphones are working properly.
IM Proxy Wizard... Opens a Wizard that aids in the configuration of IM Networks to pulver.Communicator.
Options... Offers a multi-tabbed dialog for configuring various options to pulver.Communicator.  Among other settings, subscribers can use the Options dialog to determine the appearance of pulver.Communicator Tooltips, to sort their Buddy List by either Display Name or by Online Status, and to direct pulver.Communicator to reconnect automatically at start-up.
   

Help Menu

Online Help Displays the on-line Help system for pulver.Communicator.
Upgrade Presents the pulver.Communicator Downloads Page, from which the latest version of Communicator can be easily downloaded.
Report Issue Presents a dialog from which users can report problems of varying types, as well as make suggestions to the pulver.Communicator development and support teams.
Forum Opens a browser window to the pulver.Communicator forum, a message board that has been set up for users of the application.
Links Offers easy access to various pulver.com company websites, including LibréTel, pulverinnovations, VON, pulver.com and the Jeff Pulver blog.
